In November, the two clubs joined forces to write a letter to Baltimore County officials warning them that BCPS is violating Maryland law by retaining and distributing these books. The particular books being discussed in this chat were Gender Queer by Maia Kobabe and Lawn Boy by Jonathon Evison. McDonald and Swim gave as much detail as they could about the material in the books, however, they were careful to not show the graphics in Gender Queer, as it would have violated “community standards” on various social media platforms. The duo explains their experience with Baltimore County State’s Attorney, Scott Shellenberger, and his negligence with this issue.
