On Saturday, May 18, members of the Republican Women of Baltimore County (RWBC) voted unanimously to adopt a Keep Nine Resolution to the United States Constitution. This proposed amendment, the shortest in the nation’s history, simply states: "The Supreme Court of the United States shall be composed of nine Justices."
Last fall, the National Federation for Republican Women (NFRW) designated the Keep Nine Amendment as a core legislative priority to safeguard the independence of our third branch of government. NFRW emphasized, "Court packing is all about legislative overreach and control, with Congress tipping the balance of power to its advantage by increasing the size of the U.S. Supreme Court to achieve partisan bias. We must keep the Supreme Court independent to protect our constitutional rights."
At the NFRW Spring Board of Directors meeting on Saturday, May 15, 2024, a Keep Nine resolution was adopted unanimously. NFRW is urging every state and local federated club to adopt the Keep Nine Resolution as well. RWBC President Louise Baker, a prominent Keep Nine Amendment advocate in Maryland, spearheaded the efforts to pass the resolution in Baltimore County. She is now extending this initiative to other state clubs, seeking further resolutions and support. Additionally, she is urging elected officials to join the effort by pledging their support for the Keep Nine Amendment.
Roman Buhler, Esq., a leader of the Madison Coalition’s Keep Nine campaign, reports that 80% of House Republicans and most Republicans in Congress now back the amendment, totaling 194 supporters. Fourteen state legislative chambers have also passed resolutions requesting Congress to propose the amendment.
This grassroots movement is gaining significant momentum, particularly in this election year. It is essential for all those in political office and candidates running for office to be asked if they support the Keep Nine Amendment and to provide a written or emailed statement of their support, regardless of political affiliation.
Socialism is growing in our Country. Look no further than Social Security, Medicare and Obamacare. Programs implemented with no real way to pay for them. It was a mathematical certainty that the Titanic was going to sink after hitting the iceberg. The Democrats have held a super majority four times in the past 100 years. They will pack the Court. We must prevent this from occurring.
