The RWBC Caring for America Committee focused their fall fundraiser on our active military who are serving abroad in war zones around the world. We discovered a group of “angels” located in Dundalk, Maryland, who work tirelessly throughout the months to assemble care packages and send them to our troops. Angels Supporting Your Troops, Inc., was founded in 2010 by Irene Spatafore, soon to be 90 years young. This non-profit organization is dedicated to making sure that our active troops do not feel forgotten. Care packages sent from home is one way of accomplishing that goal. The organization’s noble mission is made possible by generous donations from the community both of items and of monetary donations to cover shipping fees.
The RWBC had the pleasure of hosting the founder, Irene Spatafore and three of her angels at our November meeting. Our membership expressed their gratitude and their generosity. At the November meeting a car full of donated items were collected as well as over $500 in cash. Three other carfuls of needed items were previously delivered in the months of September and October.
