On April 19th, the RWBC Caring for America Committee held its annual Spring Fundraiser, with this year’s efforts dedicated to supporting the Wellspring of Life Farm (WLF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Monkton, Maryland.
WLF offers a unique approach to healing by incorporating farm animals into therapeutic sessions designed to support military personnel, veterans, first responders, and community members facing emotional or physical challenges. The organization's signature program—Heroes, Horses, and Hounds (and Hairy Goats)—uses the calming and connective power of animals to promote healing and resilience.
During the event, Dawn Leung, Executive Director of WLF, provided attendees with a heartfelt and informative presentation about the farm's mission, its passionate volunteers, and the transformative work being done through its therapy programs.
The audience also heard from Jane Welzant, wife of Army Veteran Bill Welzant, who shared a moving personal testimony about her journey with multiple sclerosis. Jane credited the WLF and its therapy animals with offering her meaningful support and strength during her struggles.
The donations were personally delivered to Dawn Leung by Caring for America Committee Chair Donna Mell and committee member Betty Snyder.
The RWBC Caring for America Committee is proud to support organizations like the Wellspring of Life Farm that make a lasting impact on the lives of heroes and community members alike.
