Subject: 🐘RWBC Action Item following February 27 meeting
Dear members, former members and friends:
Over 100 people attended the February 27th meeting urbanization and development hosted by Republican Women of Baltimore County at the Perry Hall Library. Some of you were among them. We now urge you to use your voice to stop legislation that moves the decisions about zoning and development of your communities from local control to state bureaucracies.
When you call, email or testify in opposition to House Bill 538 and Senate Bill 484, most important is to simply state the bill number and your opposition.
A word document with the contact information for the committee members considering these bills is below.
Also know that a phone call is most effective. It is urgent that these call to elected officials be made quickly. Here are some easy talking points. And remember these legislators work for you!
Information is also located on our website, https://www.republicanwomenbc.com/copy-of-action-items scroll to the bottom past the memes to information on suggested wording and easy to copy and paste email addresses.
Here are some brief suggestions for your phone calls and emails:
· These bills prevent localities from ensuring there are adequate public facilities to meet population growth.
· They prevent local control of things like school capacity, public safety needs, and road congestion.
· They would allow taller denser development without local involvement.
· Zoning decisions should be controlled by local officials who know the communities best.
· Moving power to state bureaucrats and limiting public hearing deprives me of my voice.
