1 - Cybersecurity Exercise?
Usually, a countdown will save the best for last, no let’s put this out there first. Can anyone explain why the Homeland Security Conference on Critical Infrastructure will have a “large scale cybersecurity exercise on …wait for it…November 5, 2024”? How is it these experts will be missing in action on Election Day when we need them the most?
Therefore, if Homeland Security is practicing for a “large scale cybersecurity attack” on election day, it is best to VOTE EARLY.
2 - Threats of Election Day Violence
A previous RWBC article, The Return of Zuckerbucks: Private Funds in Maryland Elections we highlighted key statements from Homeland Security about election day violence. Center for Tech and Civil Life (CTCL) a private organization funded by Facebook and Google, offered $50,000 grants to “enhance security” at Board of Elections offices to purchase bulletproof glass. A quick Google search reveals no record of election officials ever being targeted by gun violence. Nevertheless, both Homeland Security and mainstream media have been stirring fears by highlighting speculative threats.
September 20 – USA Today published a story about supposed threats to election workers, despite there being no concrete examples of such attacks. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/elections/2024/09/20/election-workers-under-attack-safety/75283506007/
More examples listed at The Return of Zuckerbucks: Private Funds in Maryland Elections
Therefore, if Homeland Security is advertising threats on Election Day, it is best to VOTE EARLY!
3 - Remember Arizona?
On election day November 2020 Maricopa County, Arizona had all sorts of voting machine glitches causing chaos for the voters, leaving some to vote in other districts, long lines and messy voter reconciliation.
Therefore, to avoid any last-minute election day technical problems, it is best to VOTE EARLY.
4 - “You Already Voted”
During the 2024 Primary Election, as an election judge I could see these voters had requested a mail-in-ballot. However, each one claimed they never requested a mail-in ballot. Unfortunately for these voters they must fill out a provisional ballot, which leads to delays and questions about whether their vote will be counted. Voting early allows time to rectify any discrepancies.
Therefore, to have the time to reconcile any mail-in-vote questions, VOTE EARLY.
5 - One to Two Percent of Republican Voters Dropout on Election Day
Every election sees 1-2% of Republican voters who can't make it to the polls due to unexpected emergencies—health issues, work obligations, family crises. Voting early ensures that no matter what happens, your voice has already been heard.
Due to this election being so close, it is super important to BANK YOUR VOTE!
Therefore, VOTE EARLY.
With cybersecurity concerns, the threat of violence, technical glitches, and the potential for unexpected emergencies, there are more than enough reasons to cast your ballot before Election Day. Early voting in Maryland opens on Thursday, October 24, and runs through October 31 from 7:00am – 8:00am.
