Celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary, God Has Blessed America!

July 2026 has been a remarkable month of celebration. The Republican Women of Baltimore County celebrated its 60th Anniversary with our founder, Ambassador Ellen Sauerbrey, while our nation continued commemorating America's 250th Anniversary.

Every Fourth of July, Americans come together for parades, cookouts, patriotic music, and fireworks. These traditions remind us how blessed we are to live in the United States.

As conservatives, we work hard to promote our values and principles. Just as important, however, is passing on a love of America to our children, grandchildren, and future generations. Patriotism should not be celebrated only on Independence Day; it should be lived every day.

America has countless blessings. Our breathtaking mountains, oceans, forests, farmland, and national parks are among the most beautiful in the world. We are blessed, producing forty-five trillion dollars in natural resources annually. We have a free-market economy that rewards innovation and hard work, and leadership in technology, medicine, and space exploration.

Our Constitution is the longest continually operating written constitution in history. Together with the Bill of Rights, it protects our God-given rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness while limiting the power of government.

If I had to describe America in one word, it would be FREEDOM. Generation after generation, brave Americans have fought wars to preserve that freedom. Their sacrifices have allowed our nation to remain a beacon of hope and opportunity.

America is also one of the world's most diverse nations. People from every background have come here seeking freedom and opportunity, creating a uniquely American culture built on shared ideals rather than shared ancestry.

This year has also seen significant accomplishments. Our beautiful First Lady, Melania’s platform is dedicated to helping children. Her most recent program “Fostering the Future” works with foster children and provides resources including education and scholarships. President Trump has brokered peace with six countries. His efforts to secure the border have reduced crime and added in rescuing 137,000 trafficked children. He signed the “Halt Act “classifying Fentanyl as a schedule one dangerous drug and increased mandatory sentences for drug dealers. Trump created bank accounts and will contribute $1,000 per eligible child including foster children. He encouraged greater and more fair NATO burden-sharing making the contribution fair for the US. President Trump is a builder. He is in the process of building a 90,000 sq foot ballroom with state-of-the-art military defense to protect the ballroom, diplomats, and guest. America is seeing economic growth, and the stock market is at an all-time high.

As parents, grandparents, and friends, we have countless opportunities to teach patriotism. For example, the next time you see an American flag with a child, ask, "What does the flag mean to you?" In the RWBC June newsletter, Louise Baker’s President’s address offers a beautiful article “The American Flag and the Symbolic Folds.” These simple conversations can plant seeds of gratitude and love for our country.

An encouraging scripture is "Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." — Matthew 5:16

President Ronald Reagan often described America as "a shining city upon a hill," reminding us that freedom must be passed from one generation to the next. So let our light shine for the Unted States of America.

God has blessed America. Let us celebrate our nation, teach its history, cherish our freedoms, and inspire others to love this great country all year long.
